Starting the Day

My yoga teacher talked about getting in the zone before the practice.

To close off all things around you and get in tune with your breathing, focusing on the air filling your lungs and the breathe leaving your body.

To shut off all thoughts and listen to your body. What is it saying to you... My knee hurts today.... It is nice to sit and relax for a moment during this busy day.

I realized I do that when I start my daily art practice. I do it without thinking. It comes to me naturally.

I can do it quickly. I think it is because of my almost 20 years of dance training. That discipline to get right in the zone without distraction and begin working.

You focus.

You are ready.

You begin.
